TORAH TALK FOR THE TABLE with Rabbi David
Miketz - Making it Happen NOW!
The parshah this week finds Joseph in jail. While he has never lost hope and has always continued to work hard and succeed at every endeavour, he keeps finding himself in harder situations. Then everything changes in a moment.
Pharoh has his dreams and Joseph, with HaShem's guidance, is the one who can interpret them. One moment Joseph is a prisoner in jail; the next moment Joseph is standing in front of Pharoh and then named the King of Egypt, second only to Pharoh.
When life gets challenging, we can all learn from Yosef. He never stopped trying to make it happen for himself, and even when everything seemed to turn from bad to worse, he maintained hope, and then, unexpectedly, in one moment, everything changed and he was on top.
In our own lives, let's all keep working hard to create the best possible world. Even if it doesn't happen immediately, the redemption we are all hoping for could happen at any moment - even right now.
Questions for Discussion: 1. What is something that you want, that has been hard to get? 2. How have you been working to achieve that goal? 3. Do you think you will ever achieve your goal? How long do you think it will take? 4. How would it feel if you got everything you wanted right now?
UNIT ONE, Connecting to Israel and how that impacts Jewish Identity is now complete. You can watch the recorded programs here . UNIT TWO - The Mitzvah in Bnai Mitzvah will be starting at the end of January. Watch for the full program description and flyer, coming soon.
