Out of the Cold 2019

A MESSAGE FROM THE 2019 OUT OF THE COLD CHAIRS:

Dear Out Of The Cold Volunteers,

THE PARTY IS OVER, at least for this year. It is hard to believe that the program has come to an end but it has. We, the steering committee, want to thank you for all that you do to make our program run as smoothly as it does. This year was particularly challenging  as we were faced with many nights of poor weather. This did not deter you from coming out and giving the guests something to look forward to each week. In fact, your efforts have been acknowledged by many of the guests, many of whom have asked us to extend the length of the program. Even the Dixon Hall Staff who work at our shelter have made comments about the great work performed by our volunteers.

We hope that you feel a sense of accomplishment and look forward to your future participation. It takes a team to make this program run effectively and we feel that we have a fine team. We will soon be getting started on planning next year's program and we are hopeful that we can count on your support once again.  If anyone would like to become more involved or have any suggestions regarding program improvements, please feel free to reply to this email.

The good thing about our program ending is that it usually signals the end of the bad weather and we can look forward to Spring.

Once again, thank you.

Sincerely,

Renee Henry & Allan Fleisher
Co Chairs

The Beth Emeth Bais Yehuda Synagogue opens its doors during the cold winter months for the vulnerable people in our community. This program provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a hot kosher meal, gently used clothing, a warm bed to sleep in, a bagged lunch, TTC tokens, a visit with an onsite nurse and toiletries.  We serve dinners for up to 90 guests and have up to 30 guests sleep over each Monday evening.

The program will run for 8 consecutive Monday nights and Tuesday mornings from Monday, January 7th until Monday, February 25th 2019

We are looking for donations of gently used clothing, specifically large and extra large jackets and winter boots, warm winter apparel, and toiletries. Meals can also be donated at a cost of $18.00.

If you would like to donate warm winter clothing to the program, please Download the Intake Form and attach to the clothing bags. Please drop it off at the shul office or leave it with the shul security guard.

Cash donations and clothing donations are also encouraged. Donations to Out of the Cold can be made by calling the office at 416-633-3838 or click the link to the right, and select Out of the Cold.

If you wish to volunteer, please send a note with your contact info including name, email and phone numbers to bebyoutofthecold@gmail.com. Even if you have volunteered in previous years - please re-submit your contact info!

We look forward to your participation.
