COMMUNITY BULLETIN

Dear Community Members,

The Government of Ontario has expanded its Support for Learners program to make parents of children up to grade 12, and secondary school students over the age of 18 eligible for the $200 grant.

Children and youth with special needs up to age 21 continue to be eligible for a $250 grant.

The deadline to apply is fast approaching. Applications for children and youth of all ages must be submitted by February 8th.

Parents or guardians in Ontario, including those with children in Jewish Day Schools, can complete a simple online application through the Support for Learners web page.

Applications will remain open until February 8, 2021.

CIJA advocated for the government to assist all families in the province with additional learning and childcare expenses due to COVID-19, and to provide a second round of funding which we were pleased to see launched and expanded.

If you have applied for the Support for Learners program and have not yet received your payment, or if you have any other questions, contact the Government of Ontario helpline by calling 1-800-268-7095.

Shelley's Elevator

We acknowledge generous grants from The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an Agency of the Government of Ontario, and from the Government of Canada for their roles in enabling Beth Emeth to become a fully accessible building.

On Friday, October 11th, 2013 we officially dedicated Beth Emeth as a Community Hub and safe haven for the neighbouring areas, in case of emergency.

Beth Emeth Bais Yehuda Synagogue has been a dynamic community leader for decades in the areas of Accessibility and Inclusion.

With the addition of an elevator on the west side of the building accessing all four levels, everyone, including seniors and those with physical challenges, can now enjoy full access to all areas of the building.

Shelley’s Elevator along with a new emergency generator enables BEBY to serve as a Community Hub for all of Bathurst Manor.

Your gift continues the vision of inclusion initiated by our founding Rabbi, Rabbi Joseph Kelman z"l. Help to make this happen.

All gifts are tax deductible.

Do you know someone who wishes to honour a family member?

DUE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS OUR ROLE AS COMMUNITY HUB IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED.
