Shalom Everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful Sukkot, which is called Zman Simchateinu - the Time of our Joy! The joy of spending time in the Sukkah is unique, and every moment of it is a mitzvah.
Today is Hoshana Rabbah - which is the final day of Sukkot. According to our sages, this is the final day of the High Holiday season: Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and Hoshana Rabbah.
This Tuesday and Wednesday are Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah. After the intensity of High Holidays, we take another day (2 outside of Israel) to just enjoy our relationship with HaShem.
We celebrate by completing the Torah reading cycle, and immediately beginning again. Just as the Torah begins again with the story of creation, we also have the opportunity to begin anew, and to begin creating the year that we prayed for over Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur!
Chag Samei'ach! Mo'adim L'Simchah! Let us all have a season and festival of JOY!!! :) SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE PROGRAMMING INFORMATION!
Parshat V'Zot HaBeracha - The Blessing to Begin Again
This Torah reading is the last in the whole Torah scroll. It takes place at the last moments of Moshe Rabbeinu's (Moses our teacher's) life.
He ends by giving each of the 12 tribes a very unique and specific blessing, dependant on their strengths, to inspire them toward greatness. The nation is about to enter the land of Israel and Moshe wants to empower each and every Israelite to succeed on the new journey ahead.
Just as each tribe has its specific blessing, so do each of us. We are each unique with our own individual strengths that no one else has. Moshe's blessings can help us each find our own strengths so that we can find our own success as we begin again in the year ahead.
As we complete the Torah, we immediately begin again. The end of one journey is the beginning of another. With our blessings in mind, we can create a future of peace and happiness for all.
Discussion Questions:
1. What is one of your unique gifts that makes you amazing? 2. What is a challenge that you want to overcome this year? 3. How can you try to see your challenges as blessings in disguise?
