Summary
Shalom Everyone,
The High Holidays are just over a week away! Are you ready?
This time of year is always so intense with so much happening and so much to do. Whether getting ready for your High Holiday experience, the new school year, or just preparing for the end of the summer months, it is a time of transition.
At shul, we are gearing up and making sure everything is in place for the High Holidays. The flyer that outlines everything is below.
Please, if you haven't done so yet, make sure your shul contributions are up to date for this year and register to join us in person. Like last year, the service and programs will be livestreamed as well and at 12:15 we will be meeting outside for Shofar-In-The-Park.
I really look forward to seeing you all soon. Please stay healthy, stay safe, and have a wonderful Shabbat! We are open on Shabbat mornings again. I look forward to seeing you all back in shul soon! SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE PROGRAMMING INFORMATION!
Parshat Ki Tavo - Bringing Our Blessings
The Parshah this week begins by telling us about the mitzvah of Bikkurim. The Torah tells us that everyone would bring their first fruits to the Cohen "in that time" to show their gratitude to HaShem for all the blessings in their lives.
The words "in that time" are guiding us today to do the same thing. While it is really easy to complain and see how much is missing from our lives, the Torah says that we have to first count our blessings. Not only that, even though there isn't a Cohen in the Beit Mikdash, there are many community organizations with whom we can share our blessings, fulfilling the mitzvah of Bikkurim even in this time.
Discussion Questions:
What are 3 blessings in your life?
How do you show your gratitude for those blessings?
Why is it important to share our blessings with others?
Shabbat Shalom!
Do know a Jewish student starting university in Ontario this fall?
Hillel Ontario, your home for Jewish campus life, will send them a welcome gift package! We will also enroll them in our newsletters so they don’t miss out on Jewish programming, opportunities to make new friends and other great events.
Let Hillel welcome your first year student to campus before they even arrive.
