The Beth Emeth Youth to Young Family Email
Shalom Everyone,
The BEBY Young Family High Holiday plan is almost complete and a flyer will be out next week. Each day will be slightly different, and each day will make sure that everyone of us will have something meaningful, as we come together as a community. The Family HHD Experience will be livestreamed as well, to make sure that we can all take part and be connected, and Rosh HaShanah will have outdoor Shofar-in-the-Park following services again this year.
There are a lot of other programs to look forward to already for this year ahead and more on the horizon, and as much as possible, we will endeavour to make all of our programs "virtual" friendly. The current schedule is below. Check it out and mark the dates in your calendars and have a wonderful Shabbat! We are open on Shabbat mornings again. I look forward to seeing you all back in shul soon! SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE PROGRAMMING INFORMATION!
TORAH TALK FOR THE SHABBAT TABLE with Rabbi David
Parshat Ki Tetze – Safety and Success
This week's parshah has one of the most practical and important mitzvot in the Torah. If a person has a house with a flat roof, the Torah teaches us to build a fence around a roof. It is plain and simple: make sure no one falls down and gets hurt. The Rabbis also teach us (Avot 1:1) "Asoo Siyag LaTorah - Make a fence for Torah", which is telling us to create the proper barriers to prevent mistakes. Or, to say it another way, set yourself up for success.
The Torah is teaching that in every situation we should always make fences, both to protect ourselves and others from getting hurt, but also to help others and ourselves succeed!
Discussion Questions:
What are some "fences" in your life?
Who put them there? You? Your parents? Your teachers?
Have the "fences" helped keep you safe?
Shabbat Shalom!
