Shalom Everyone,
I'm starting to get excited for Pesach! We're behind in cleaning, shopping and preparing for the holiday, but as we get closer and I'm thinking more about Seder and how to tell my kids the story of how we became free.
I know members of our community who create their own haggadot every year, others who play games, others who dress up and put on a play, or some combination of the above. Others simply go through the haggadah and let the text of the book tell the story.
How do YOU tell the story of FREEDOM in your family? THERE ARE NEW PROGRAMS FOR ALMOST ALL OF THE NEXTGEN COMMUNITY. CHECK OUT THE LIST ABOVE AND THE FLYERS BELOW!!!
A special Mazal Tov to ZOE GUTFREUND who is celebrating her Bat Mitzvah this Saturday Night! Zoe, you should be blessed to always grow and appreciate your unique Jewish identity. You have so much to share and we look forward to seeing the amazing things you will do in the years ahead.
Mazal tov also to Zoe's Parents, Jay and Gaela, her brothers, Tobey and David, and to the whole Gutfreund and Mintz families.
I look forward to the time when we can all celebrate together again, in person.
As a community, our goal is to strive to support each other in every way. If you have any smachot to share, or if you are in need of anything, please let us know!
We are working dilligently to provide as many meaningful social, educational, and spiritual opportunities as possible. FLYERS FOR ALL UPCOMING PROGRAMS BELOW! (For programs from the broader Beth Emeth Community, visit the Beth Emeth website: www.beby.org.)

TORAH TALK FOR THE TABLE with Rabbi David
Vayikra - The Sweet Smell of Freedom
This week we begin the third book of the Torah - Vayikra. This book talks a lot about Jewish rituals, including the offerings that were brought in service of HaShem.
With every offering, whether large, medium, or small, according to what each person could afford the Torah uses the same words: "Ray'ach Nicho'ach L'HaShem - a pleasing smell for HaShem". That means that as long as we are trying our best, HaShem enjoys everything good that we each do.
Our Rabbis teach us that "one may do a lot, and one may do a little. The main thing is to direct your heart to Heaven". It's not about how much good we are doing, but it is about the fact that we are doing good in the world.
At Pesach we remember that we are free. Let's all choose to use our individual freedom to do more good in the world, put a little more effort into our Passover seders and celebration, and continue to work for freedom for all people in the world.
Questions for Discussion:
Describe a situation where you put in a lot of effort while someone else put in less. How did that make you feel?
What is something good that you do for the world?
What is something you love to do that a slave would not be able to do?
UNIT ONE, Connecting to Israel and how that impacts Jewish Identity was amazing. You can watch the recorded programs here . UNIT TWO, The Mitzvah in Bnai Mitzvah is now complete. It was an amazing learning experience for everyone who attended. Videos will be uploaded shortly. As a recap: January 24, 10am - Protecting Our World January 31, 10am - All about Shabbat February 7, 10am - Take a Trip Inside a Torah Scroll and Inside Tefillin Boxes February 14, 10am - Everything you need to know about Jewish History in 20 minutes and Becoming a Responsible
We are now looking ahead to Unit 3, about Our Jewish Community, which will take place in the spring. Watch this space.
You can still register your kids for the rest of this year's Bnai Mitzvah Experience.
If you have a child who recently had, or is about to have their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, this program is for you.
