I really hope everyone is doing well, staying healthy, and staying home as much as possible. The whole e-learning has been such a challenge for us. There are definite successes, and then there are other times: a couple of days ago our kids were both not having any more of the zoom classes or work and went to play with a new 3D puzzle we got them. I not only didn't have the energy to push them back to 'school', but they were playing really nicely with each other, so that's still a win, right?! Yes, definitely!
It reminded me of the "4 sons" from the Pesach Haggadah. The times they are completely focused is like the Chacham (wise child), the times they are difficult and fighting the whole balagan is like the Rasha (wicked child), the times they just want to play is like the Tam (simple child), and the times that they don't know what is happening at school - or at home - and are like a deer in headlights is like the She'eno Yode'ah (the one who doesn't know how to ask). I'd love to hear your version!
I want to wish a MAZAL TOV, to AARON and RACHEL MARMER on the birth of Avi (Avraham Chaim) on March 8th and on Avi's Brit Milah. Welcome to the tribe, little man! Mazal Tov also, to Avi's siblings Eli, Mimi, and Sadie.

TORAH TALK FOR THE TABLE with Rabbi David
Parshat Tzav and Shabbat Hagadol
This Shabbat is called Shabbat Hagadol - the great shabbat - because we are preparing for the freedom which is coming to us. At a time when we are "trapped" inside, what could be greater than freedom?
One of my favorite lines in this weeks Parasha is "Esh tamid tookad al hamizbe'ach, lo tichbeh - An eternal fire will burn on the altar, it will never go out". I love this line so much becuase it gives me a way to engage within difficult times. It reminds me to ask myself about the things that I love doing the most and to recognize that, regardless of what is happening, that passion - the fire on the altar - will never go out and will carry me through.
When times are challenging, we can all focus on those things we love about ourselves and we can allow those things to stay lit up - keeping the fire alive, and never letting it go out.
