I really hope everyone is doing well. I know we are trying to get out of the house for paranoid walks around the block and trying everything to keep our kids engaged - both in e-learning, and in life.
First I want to wish a SPECIAL MAZAL TOV, to MATTAN ROTTMANN, an active member of our BEBY Youth community who celebrated his Bar Mitzvah - via Zoom - this past Sunday! Mazal Tov also to his parents, Mark and Batya, on making the Bar Mitzvah happen during this challenging time.
Shul on Shabbat (and everyday) is often a bit of a respite from the week - a chance to reconnect with friends and family, to pray a little, sing a little, and just enjoy the rest that Shabbat has to offer.
Unfortunately, with the shul closed, that isn't available right now. But, we ARE trying to do as much virutally as possible. NEXT WEEK was supposed to be a FAMILY SHABBAT! We can't do it in the shul, but we can do it virtually. Watch for a special NEXTgen e-blast announcing a BEBY YOUNG FAMILY KABBALAT SHABBAT - ZOOM EDITION! We will not only do a family Kabbalat Shabbat service, but we will also get into the Pesach spirit, as a kehillah.
Tonight at 6pm, the Chazzan will be LIVE on the Beth Emeth Facebook page to do an abridged musical kabbalat Shabbat. Tomorrow night he will be doing Havdallah.
Tefillah can always be challenging. Every morning at 8am and evening (7:35pm this week) we are leading vitual tefillot, also on Beth Emeth Facebook Livestreaming.
There are other classes and opportunities. Check out www.beby.orgfor a full listing.
We are all trying to navigate this whole experience together - learning new ways to be a community, often from the our own homes. How would you like to be connected? Reach out and let us know.
We, both the shul, but also more personally, Shira Rachel and I, are here for you during this COVID-19 experience.

TORAH TALK FOR THE TABLE with Rabbi David
Parshat Vayikra
This Shabbat we begin the third book of the Torah, Vayikra. The book of Vayikra starts with parshat Vayikra.
In parshat Vayikra, HaShem calls to Moshe and instructs him about the korbanot - the offerings and service that would be done in the Beit Mikdash.
The Rabbis teach that the word KORBAN - offering is like the word KAROV - close. They teach that the whole book is about how to get closer to HaShem, to Torah, and to each other.
There is another teaching that just like HaShem called Moshe, HaShem calls each of us to do something special in the world.
Discussion Questions
What can you do to feel closer to people?
At a time like this, when we are being told to stay away from others, what kind of things can we each 'offer' to do for each other?
What are you being called to do? How will that help the world?
In response to the COVID19 pandemic, all of our programs are on hold. :(
