High Holidays 2016 Application

This is the form for High Holiday volunteers and Room Coordinators.

Thank you for your interest in helping out the Beth Emeth Youth Department during the High Holidays! Positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications MUST be received by FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 16TH at the latest. If you have any questions, you can email youth@beby.org. Please note: We will be contacting all applicants at the end of the summer to confirm room assignments and remind everyone of the important dates.

All positions are volunteer only except for Room Coordinators, who may choose either payment or volunteer hours. You must be in at least Grade 11 to apply for a Room Coordinator position. 

Please be aware that all communication will be between the volunteer/staff and the Youth Director. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Note: You must be available for:

-Mandatory staff orientation (Sunday September 25th, 6-8PM)

-Both days of Rosh Hashanah (Monday October 3 and Tuesday October 4, 9:15-1:15)

-Yom Kippur day (Wednesday October 12 (9:15-1:15)

-Either Kol Nidre (Tuesday evening, October 11 6:00-10:00) or Neila (Wednesday evening, October 12, 5:00-9:00).

Upon successful completion of the High Holidays, volunteers will be given 18 hours of community service.

Most communication will be via email. PLEASE ensure you check this account regularly.

Please rank your room preference choices. We will do our best to place you in your first choice.

Please indicate whether you would prefer to work Kol Nidre (evening before Yom Kippur) or Neilah (evening of Yom Kippur). Preferences will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.


Volunteers:

-Conduct yourself in an exemplary manner & dress modestly at all times

-Attend all arranged staff meetings

-Help plan and carry out a creative, well rounded program that meets the needs of the kids and ensure that they are having a positive experience

-Plan and carry out, in co-ordination with your room coordinator, the daily schedule

-Adhere to all procedures and policies outlined in this staff manual

-Perform other youth related duties as may be required by the High Holy Day Supervisor or Youth Director

-Read over the manual and be aware of their responsibilities

-Arrive 15 minutes before the start of each program

-Wear your nametag at all times.

-Stay inside their designated room at all times unless given permission to leave.

 

Room Coordinators:

-Adhere to all expectations aforementioned in the staff and volunteer section.

-Plan and implement a schedule that is designed to be age appropriate for your room. (All of these ideas should be submitted in advance so that it can be put into the staff manual and explained at the staff orientation meeting.)

-Attend all arranged staff meetings and all Room Coordinator Meetings

-Act as a mentor for all of the volunteers and staff that are assigned to your room.

-Ensure that all of the kids are having fun, remain safe & learn about the High Holy Days.

-Perform other youth related duties as may be required by the High Holy Day Supervisor or Youth Director.

By typing my name below, I agree that all the information I provided is accurate and I fully understand my responsibilities outlined by my job description. I also understand that BEBY may use my full name in any publicity material it deems. I am also aware of the dates for the staff training and meetings and understand it is mandatory for me to attend them. I recognize that failure to comply with the above mentioned job description and any additional policies or procedures set by Beth Emeth’s Youth Department or BEBY’s Youth Director may result in automatic termination of employment without receiving pay or community service hours.
