Music After Dark Concert Series

7:30 PM - 9:00 PMBEBYOn July 6, Beth Emeth proudly hosts as the inaugural performance of its concert series “Music after Dark”, Israeli based quintet Canaan Jazz Ensemble. The Canaan Jazz Ensemble comprises students from the world renowned Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, based in Tel Aviv.In addition to performing at Beth Emeth, the quintet will also perform at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival on July 1 and 2nd.
Following their performances in Toronto, three of the five members of the Ensemble will then proceed to Boston to take up summer residence at the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute. The Thelma Yellin School was founded in 1959 in memory of Israeli cellist Thelma Bentwich Yellin. Thelma Yellin is a national high school, drawing students from all over Israel, where artistically gifted young people both develop the skills in their chosen field of specialization, as well as further their academic education.
The Ensemble performs well-known jazz standards, original compositions, as well as jazz arrangements of Israeli songs.
7:30 pm at Beth Emeth. Cover: $18 in advance until July 4th / $20 at the door.
